13.1

So, besides kids and chickens, every once in awhile I do something else too.  And last weekend I ran my first ever half marathon.  I had only ever run a couple of shorter races, and wasn't sure of passing etiquette or how to run through the water aid stations, but I had a blast.  I only run by myself normally, and running with a crowd of people (relatively speaking, this was still a small town event) was kind of exciting.  The route went right past my house, so Bryce and the kids stood on the highway to cheer me on.  I'm not sure where to go next, but I hope another race is in my future.

Week(s) in Review

I missed a lot on here!  We had visitors!  My mom, my sister, her family.  Lots of fun and lots of exhaustion.

We tried to take group photos.  It was hard.

Easter happened.  There were eggs.

I ran my first 10k.  It went pretty well.  And I got to have my sister cheer me on, even though the weather was fairly lacking.

Also this, just because.

And on this Easter-ish note, Porter officially does not believe in Santa or the Easter bunny or any other mythical gift giver.  He has recently been taking great pride in pointing out all the things we said were from Santa, but were really from yoooouuuuuuu.  He seems to be happy to be in on this secret though, and I think he has finally realized that he has to stop talking about it in front of his sisters.  I've been suspecting these thoughts from him for a while, and really, I enjoy not having to fake it for him anymore.  But it is one more way that he is growing up.  And there is no stopping it.

A Week In Review

Wow.  It has been crazy around here.  And fun.  And crazy.
Bryce's sister and her wonderful family came to visit.  Porter and Molly were so happy to hang out with "baby Q."

Molly had a birthday party.  There was much princess action.

 And ladybug cupcakes.

Then it snowed.  And snowed.  And snowed.  And Allison and I ran a 5K on Thanksgiving morning in two feet of the stuff.

Then we came home and ate.  And it was good.

We went sledding, and tried to take a Christmas card picture.  But someone (who will not be named) was scowling in every one.

Porter went on his first successful deer hunt.  Dawson was happy.

And!  Today, Molly had her first day of preschool.  She's in the big leagues now, and true to her independent nature, did not need me in the least.  Get out of here now mom, really, it's embarrassing.

We really did have a great time with Allison, Dan and Hugh.  And a great holiday.
Cedar has decided that teething sucks, and sleeping in overrated, but she's happy too.
Looking forward to December and possibly more frequent blogging.
Happy belated Thanksgiving all!
